Countdown to first day of Conference!

Welcome to A Century of Sound Connections!

This is the website for the 2019 National Conference of the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations / Fédération Canadienne des Associations des Professeurs de Musique.

We are excited about planning some great days for you at the conference in Winnipeg. The year 2019 is particularly meaningful for Manitoba to host this event as it marks the 100th Anniversary of the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers’ Association, the oldest of its kind in Canada.

On this site you will discover many opportunities for making ‘sound connections’ with others attending the conference. We hope you will be musically inspired through workshop presentations, casual conversations with colleagues, and by listening to Canada’s rising artists in both piano and vocal competitions.

Mark your calendar now for July 3 – 6, 2019 and plan to attend!

Our Keynote Speaker

The life of Michelle Sawatzky-Koop, Olympic athlete and musician, is a great example of our theme of connecting. Michelle's address will precede the final luncheon and will be open to registrants purchasing a full package, or those who purchase a day pass for any day. Be sure to add your ticket for the final luncheon when you register. Read more about Michelle here.

What to See in Winnipeg

Our venue is the beautiful and historic Hotel Fort Garry. It is situated just blocks from The Forks, site of trading and community for 6,000 years. There are many things to see and do in the area. Come early or stay following the conference to take it all in! Visit Tourism Winnipeg for more information.

Gala Concert and 100th Anniversary

The conference will begin with a Gala Concert celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the MRMTA. This evening promises to be an amazing blend of performers, history, and anecdotes -- a 21st Century multi-media presentation in the hotel's Grand Ballroom. You won't want to miss it!
